The UPDF has come out to clarify that Eric Mwesigwa, a National Unity Platform member (NUP) who accuses security of subjecting him to torture has not been held by any agencies in the recent past.
His pictures exposing deep wounds on his chest allegedly inflicted on him by heartless operatives have been shared widely on social media drawing ire among members of the public.

Mr Mwesigwa was paraded by National Unity Platform at it’s offices in Kamwokya as he narrated his ordeal while in custody.
He said he was burnt with a hot flat iron after a State Agent who disguised as a passenger lured him to Downtown Kampala where he was kidnapped and put in drone. His captors demanded to know what are NUP’s plans.

But the UPDF has refuted his claims.
The army Spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye has said that after a comprehensive research, it been established Eric Mwesigwa was never been detained in any security organisations.

“Having done a thorough check on all security agencies, it has been established that a one Mwesigwa Eric was not in the hands of any security agency. We advise him to go to the UHRC and report or the police so that we can commence intensive investigation,” Kulayigye tweeted.
