Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya and his Makindye West counterpart Allan Ssewanyana are set to address the nation today, narrating the circumstances under which they were released after spending 17 months at Kigo prison.

The lawmakers will address media at a party presser in Makerere Kavule.

Their address comes amidst lingering speculations that they were released from jail after arriving at terms set by government. It is alleged that they had lobbied for the mercy of the Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Hon. Norbert Mao to help secure a meeting with President Museveni or his representatives before their bail was approved the previous month.

The same account accused the Leader of Opposition with having been party to these special arrangements, claims he has since disputed as malignant and baseless and went on to challenge anyone to avail evidence to add weight to this.

The lawmakers have since their release shunned media presence till today they opted to air out what exactly happened during their detention in jail, and bail at Masaka High Court.

MP Ssegirinya says their apparent prayer is that they secure the return of their passports so that they can travel abroad for specialized treatment.

Our reporters will be on ground critically listening to the narrative of the lawmakers as they weigh in on their release from jail.
