NUP president has today joined other opposition players notably the Alliance for National Transformation Party president Rtd. Gen. Mugisha Muntu, UPC president Jimmy Akena, and other leaders.

The event was hosted at Speke Resort Munyonyo under the funding and arrangement of the office of the Leader of Opposition.

At the event, Bobi rallied all opposition players to prioritize ousting the incumbent Gen. Yoweri Museveni from power and champion a transition from military rule to civilian democracy.

“Today as we enjoy the elegance of this five star facility to discuss governance issues, we must not forget the harsh realities that we face. …I want to remind you that we live under a military dictatorship. It disregards the rule of law. Undermines all institutions of state. It is family rule,” NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi’s opening statements at the ongoing consultative workshop on constitutional and electoral reforms.

“One lesson we have learnt from the experiences of those who challenged Museveni before us and from our own experience is that for as long as the Museveni regime is in power, Uganda will never experience fair electoral processes, or even uphold constitutional governance. This regime sustains itself in power by denying its opponents any political fairness. So, the first thing to do is to get rid of this regime. Only then shall we expect respect for any political discussion,”- Bobi Wine added.
