Bobi Wine bodyguard still held incommunicado
Gaddafi Mugumya, a member of the security detail of the National Unity Platform party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine, has remained unaccounted for since his abduction in February this year.
According to locals who witnessed the chaotic melee as he was being abducted, Mugumya was physically beaten up by non uniformed security operatives who later bundled him in a drone as they fired shots to scare away possible pursuers.
Bobi Wine in a social media statement issued 5 days ago condemned security agencies for continously to wreck havoc on NUP supporters.
“They had first abducted his wife, released her and then abducted his friend Tomusange alias Mosquito,” Bobi said.
Since his abduction, no security agency has come out to claim responsibility for his whereabouts. Even his charges remain unknown.
The Government has in recent days distanced itself from sanctionong abductions. Army chief Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye at a presser in Mbuya last week faulted the opposition NUP party for deliberately disappearing its supporters in a bid to cast Government in bad light to prompt regional and international isolation. This was after Mr. Eric Mwesigwa, a NUP supporter issued a secondary statement claiming he had been disappeared and tortured by his own party that pleged to offer him UGX 50m.
The NUP however came out to disregard the reports as baseless and devoid of any logical sense. “How on earth would NUP abduct her own supporters? It doesn’t make any logical sense,” Baba TV journalist Muwanga Lutaaya posed this question during a morning Gangamuka Express show last week.
