At the Youth Wing convention held on Monday at Makerere Kavule, National Unity Platform party president, an iconic music star cum politician used the podium to scoff at artistes who are being used by the NRM regime to sanitize its repression.

Bobi, while addressing thousands of youths warned musicians who still side with the regime that their destiny is doomed in case change is realized.

He referenced to the past revolutionary struggles where some artistes who sided with the oppressed people were rewarded by fate.

“To the artistes who are still using their talent to stand with the people, I appreciated them greatly and reminded them that they are on the right side of history,” Bobi said.

“In past regimes, artistes who did the bidding of the day’s dictators at the expense of the citizens eventually fled with the dictators into exile. The same fate might befall our fellow artistes who recently accepted to share over UGX 30 billion of taxpayers money to fight the regime’s opponents. Woe unto them,” Bobi added.

The NUP supremo also cautioned armed security personnel to refrain from unleashing torment on civilians. This he said in wake of the renewed spate of abductions targeting NUP youths.

“The common person is afflicted by the same challenges that the forces face everyday. We must therefore work together to devise solutions,” Bobi said.

In the NUP 2021-2026 manifesto, Bobi Wine had pledged to elevate the welfare of the armed forces. He said his government would address their salary with the least paid earning at least UGX 1 million. Bobi also had avowed to construct new housing facilities for the armed forces (police and army).
