His Excellency the President of Uganda Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine is in Washington where he is meeting key activists and prominent world figures as he continues to push for change in Uganda.

Wine, 41, left the country for the US on the eve of Eid Al Fitr to engage with key NUP party stakeholders that are eyeing regime change in Uganda.

In a Wednesday Facebook post, Bobi accounts for his time in Washington DC where he met exiled journalist Ashraf Kasirye.

Bobi writes;

Yesterday, I held a couple of meetings in Washington D.C. with academics, activists and other stakeholders at the Universitys of Maryland and George Washington. We discussed the human rights situation in Uganda as well as the state of our struggle for democracy and good governance. I thanked them for supporting our endeavours, and encouraged them to maintain the international spotlight on the extra judicial killings, detention without trial, torture and other human rights violations in Uganda and everywhere else in Africa where they occur.

Later on, I interacted with officials in Washington D.C. and emphasized to them the need to hold Mr. Museveni’s regime accountable for its political and economic crimes against the citizens of Uganda. We appreciate the development aid rendered to Uganda, but reiterate our call upon the international community to make the observance of human rights and democracy a pre-condition for the same. #WeAreRemovingaDictator #Labisa #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners
