Bobi Wine returns to country, visits political prisoners
The National Unity Platform party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has returned to ths country after concluding his US trip.
Bobi did not even waste a second but began the day with a visit to the jailed political prisoners in Luzira and Kitalya Prisons. He was accompanied by the NUP party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya and other leaders.
He decried the prolonged detention of political prisoners who have braved nearly 3 years of illegal detention. He wrote;
Upon returning to the country this morning, I proceeded with the team to Luzira Women’s Prison where we checked on our dear sister and comrade Olivia Lutaaya who has been under detention for more than two years. Even after all this time under illegal detention without trial, Olivia has remained strong. She continues to protest against her detention on the orders of a military court. She was encouraged to know that many people are speaking out against her predicament and calling for her release, and the release of all other political prisoners.
We also interacted with comrade Najjuma Sanyu who was violently arrested on 28th March and remains in detention for protesting against the theft of Karamoja iron-sheets. Ironically, the thieves of the iron-sheets are freely roaming our streets with state security!
