His Excellency the President Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi yesterday took time off his busy Sunday schedule to visit veteran opposition figure Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye at his residence in Kasangati, Kyadondo East, Wakiso district.

Bobi was accompanied by the NUP party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya while Besigye was with Rtd. Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa.

The opposition leader had sought a medical leave to Switzerland where he spent two months undergoing treatment and having some time with family.

Besigye who had gone loud silent upon his return to the country 5 days back tweeted, “Thankfully, I am back home at Kasangati. Having felt quite unwell during early February, I travelled abroad to seek a better assessment.”

He added, “The doctors, among others, advised that I take a therapeutic rest, which I dutifully did-staying with family in Geneva… Always and grateful to the Lord, the giver and sustainer of life. Grateful to family and friends who cared for me.”

Besigye had last made a public appearance on December 2022 alongside NUP president Bobi Wine when police foiled their end of year opposition prayers at Nsambya sharing hall.

Bobi Wine who yesterday visited the veteran FDC party president wrote, “It’s been great this evening checking on our senior comrade Doctor Kizza Besigye at his home. I’m especially very delighted to find him in much better health. As always, our discussion revolved around the crisis our country finds itself in and what we must URGENTLY and COLLECTIVELY do to rescue ourselves from it.”
