The remains of Pte. Wilson Sabiiti, a soldier who shot and killed the State Minister for Labour Rtd. Col. Charles Okello Engola remains in the hands of the UPDF.

According to family reports, the remains of Pte. Wilson Sabiiti are still in custody of the UPDF somewhere in the military barracks.

Olivia Musimenta, a sister to Sabiiti says they have waited for the body of their son but all in vain. She adds that mourners who travelled from distant areas are already vacating the place after braving a long wait.

One of the disgruntled mourners said he is disgusted by the petty conduct of the army leadership.

“I really hate it when they hold Sabiiti’s body as if they can ever appear it in court. It is very painful to punish the family as if they told him to commit the crime,” a mourner said. “The man is dead and that’s a fact. They can’t resurrect him even if they do what. Let them release his body for burial,” another mourner ranted.

Meanwhile during yesterday’s eulogy presided by Gen. Museveni, he decreed that the UPDF handles the blood compensation matter instead of casting the burden on the already stressed and impoverished family of the bodyguard.

The Minister’s body has been airlifted this morning from Kololo to Lira where he will be accorded a state burial.
