Breaking news: Stringent conditions slapped on the 4 Bailed Political Prisoners out of 32

The Military Court in Makindye has unleashed a shameful assault on justice and democracy by detaining 32 innocent people on trumped-up charges. Although they have granted bail to four of our comrades, it comes with a steep price tag of 500,000 Ugandan shillings each – a clear attempt to extort money from those who have been falsely accused.

The poor sureties have also been coerced into paying a whopping 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings each, adding insult to injury. These four political prisoners, Ronald Mayiga, Richard Nyombi, Shafic Ngobi, and Kenneth Kamya, are being subjected to yet another set of oppressive conditions: they are forbidden from leaving Kampala and Wakiso without the court’s permission, and any violation will result in their immediate re-arrest.

As for the remaining 28 innocent victims, they are being dragged back to court to face fabricated charges without any evidence to back them up. And to add insult to injury, the Military Court has imposed a media blackout on the proceedings, preventing the public from learning about the gross injustices being perpetrated against these innocent individuals.

Let us be clear: these are political prisoners who have committed no crime whatsoever. The Makindye Military Court is nothing more than a kangaroo court, shamelessly using its power to suppress dissent and intimidate those who dare to speak out against the regime. This must not stand. We call upon all those who value freedom and democracy to stand with us in solidarity and demand the immediate release of these innocent political prisoners. #Jbmuwonge #Terikuzikiza #Enoughisenough
