Cheers, ululations as Bobi combs through Masaka
The National Unity Platform party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine yesterday left Masaka city to a standstill as he returned from a burial of Mr. Bony Steven Kasujja who has been one of the vibrant party coordinators in Lwengo district.
The generational leader in company of the Leader of Opposition Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga took some time off to peruse through the streets of Masaka city for a meet and greet interaction with their enthusiastic supporters.
Bobi, and Mpuuga were chauffeured in the same vehicle as they waved at the cheering crowds.
Masaka, a formerly stronghold of the defunct Democratic Party turned red after a mass exodus of incumbent MPs who sought solace in NUP as the country braced for the 2021 polls.
Bobi’s visit comes at a time when Masaka has been cut off from the rest of the country after the Katonga river submerged the major highway.
The NRM chairman Gen. Yoweri Museveni capitalized on the crisis to make a tour to Masaka though his visit was ushered by a ghost town with empty streets. It is said the attendants were ferried from neighboring Western districts.
