Locals in Nalukolongo are still struggling with shock after witnessing a notorious CMI led raid on a mosque on Saturday morning.

The leader of Masjid Kabuliti in Nalukolongo, Sheikh Ahmed Mugenyi was the prey “abducted by gunmen driving in a drone” under unclear circumstances.

The Rubaga South MP, Aloysius Mukasa said Saturday that he had been briefed about the shocking situation and he was quick to respond to the matter.

“We are still in shock that these abductions are continuing to prevail with impunity,” Aloysius said. “We call on locals to be vigilant since it appears that those in security cannot offer maximum protection to taxpayers,” he added.

When approached to weigh in on the matter, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango appeared to be unaware of the abduction. Relatedly, the UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye was not quick to speak about the incident when contacted.

Just this week that has been closed, close to 8 individuals believed to be opposition youths were abducted by the CMI. In Buloba, 5 youths were picked up during a security operation and they remain held incommunicado 2 days later.
