Commissioner Silwany claims Museveni may snub anti-homosexuality Bill
The Bukooli county lawmaker Hon. Solomon Silwany has told the House that he has received information that Museveni is likely to water down the legislative resolution to have the anti-homosexuality Bill 2023 assented into law.
According to Silwany, plans are underway to convince Museveni to abandon plans to sign the Bill into law after presser from the Western community showed Kampala would be slapped with an array of sanctions that include economic sanctions.
The Bukooli Central MP, Hon Solomon Silwanyi has raised a concern that Deputy Attorney General Hon Kafuuzi Jackson wrote to the President advising him not to sign the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023 that was passed on 21st March 2023.
“Right Honorable speaker, I have received information that the Deputy Attorney general has written to the president asking him to abandon plans to assent the anti-homosexuality Bill into law,” Silwany claimed.
His claims come barely hours after a communication from the NRM party chief whip Hamson Obua rallied MPs to convene for the NRM party caucas at State House Entebbe where they will discuss the Bill in question. Trusted sources have it that Museveni is likely not to sign the Bill into law.
