Diaspora Ugandans rally UK to cut ties with Museveni

Ugandans residing in the United Kingdom are spearheading a relentless wave of protests, demanding an immediate halt to Western countries’ dealings with and funding of African dictators, particularly Dictator Yoweri Museveni.

The protests which kickstarted in the Trafalgar square where the Ugandan embassy is situated have convened several activists who are calling on Western nations like the UK to freeze aid disbursed to the Museveni militaristic administration.

Armed with placards inscribed with words denouncing Museveni’s government, the activists who started their protests say they will not tire till the UK takes action on Museveni’s repressive administration.

The protesters put to light the excesses of Museveni’s government by flashing images of political prisoners and the people who were murdered during the 2020 November protests.

“Uganda is bleeding, IMF and World Bank stop funding our oppression,” one of the protesters chanted. “Stop facilitating dictatorship, stop funding terror. Museveni must be investigated for genocide,” others shouted.

The NUP supporters say they will continue with their peaceful protests till the United Kingdom government cuts ties with the Museveni militaristic government.

The protests come at a time when scores of NUP supporters are missing after being abducted by regime security operatives who are holding them incommunicado. There are also dozens of NUP supporters languishing in prisons on politically motivated charges.
