Gen. Muntu questions Kulayigye’s intelligence after controversial tweet on tortured NUP supporter
Alliance for National Transformation party supremo also former army commander Gen. Mugisha Muntu has slammed the UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye over his tweet in which he claimed the NUP supporter Mwesigwa Eric was never tortured by any of their security agencies.
“Having done a thorough check on all security agencies, it has been established that a one Mwesigwa Eric was not in the hands of any security agency. We advise him to go to the UHRC and report or the police so that we can commence intensive investigation,” Kulayigye tweeted last night.
The tweet has drawn a backlash from Ugandans with many questioning if there is a parallel force operating in the country.
Notably amongst those threatened is Gen. Muntu
“The thought of there being an armed group conducting rogue ops without the awareness of any of the security services is even more frightening. (Is that what you intended to communicate?). If true all services would need to work 24/7 to terminate such a force,” Muntu tweeted.
“My school of thought corroborates with Gen. Muntu’s! When a constitutional armed force claims it’s ‘unaware’ of the masterminds of torment on citizens then it’s an insinuation that we have a parallel force, a thing that sounds ridiculously serious. Kulayigye may not know the weight of his statement but any citizen out there should worry of the existence of a parallel force conducting abductions,” tweeted another critic
