In honor of their pledge to support the Alliance for National Transformation party candidate Alice Alaso for the Serere by-election, the National Unity Platform party has today touched ground ahead of the polls.

The NUP delegation led by the party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya joined the ANT side led by Rtd. Gen. Mugisha Muntu, ex Arua MP Kassiano Wadri and Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaaku from the PFT.

While in Serere, NUP have given out branded party calendars to the locals of Serere and urged them to vote for Alaso as their MP in the by-election.

ANT’s Alice Alaso is tussling it out with FDC’s Emmanuel Eratu, Emmanuel Omoding, Martin Onguruco, and Philip Oucor (NRM).

NUP earlier announced that, “The NUP has decided to back Hon. Alice Alaso in the upcoming by-election in Serere. This followed weeks of consultations with the relevant stakeholders, including our leaders from Teso sub-region.” The statement further reads, “As we have consistently told the nation, the National Unity Platform strongly believes in the unity of the forces of change at the core and this is yet another gesture to prove our commitment to that unity. We are grateful to the would be aspirants under NUP who exercised great maturity and agreed to delay their ambitions for the greater good of the struggle for a better nation.”
