Buganda Road Court will this morning hear the bail application hearing of the jailed eight youths who were last month arrested for protesting peacefully in demand of the arrest and trial of cabinet Ministers involved in the diversion of Karamoja iron sheets.

The eight suspects include; Moses Bukenya, Nelson Ndyasiima, Sanyu Najjuma, Sharif Kawooya, Augustine Batanda, Gilbert Nayebare, Shafia Ssegawa, and Teddy Ssemakula who are all members of the National Unity Platform party and Torture Survivors Movement.

The suspects have been on remand since their arrest in late March and have braved close to 40 days of incarceration.

They will today return to court to ask for bail on grounds of ill health as raised by their lawyer Samuel Wanda.

State prosecution preferred assault and illegal assembly charges on them following their protest.
