Just in: Nabweru Court denies 11 NUP supporters bail
Magara Umar, Muyoodi Hamid and 9 other NUP supporters have been denied bail and remanded further on the terrorism trumped up charges.
The Nabweru Magistrates Court referred the suspects to the High court for further hearing on 20th June.
Relatives of the suspects broke down in utter grief and they decried the dire conditions in which their colleagues are.
“Our people are being punished for their political beliefs. We know they are innocent. None of them can even kill a rooster,” ranted one relative to Muyoodi.
Counsel Shamim Malende designated the trial as a mere political persecution and called on government to stop punishing youths without a cause.
