Just in: NUP women smuggled to Buganda Road Court

Credible reports hitting our newsroom indicate that the 11 women who recently marched in protest of the repressive political climate have been secretly smuggled from the Central Police Station to the Law Development Centre court.

The state has preferred charges of unlawful assembly on them, citing the draconian Public Order Management Act, 2013 under which one is supposed to seek police permission before holding a procession or rally.

Among the arrested includes Liz Nyanzi, a daughter to the head of Kunga, Mr. Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, Sylvia Namutyaba, the Deputy Youth Wing leader for central, and nine others.

More details to follow.
