Yes, Lawyer Mabirizi released from jail, Controversial lawyer Male Hassan Mabirizi has finally finished his 18 months prison sentence prompting authorities at Luzira to discharge him this afternoon.

The lawyer was convicted with contempt of court by High Court judge Musa Ssekaana following his numerous Facebook posts taunting the judiciary amd judicial officers. Mabirizi had routinely attacked the personality of justice Ssekaana as one of the most biased Judicial officers he had ever known.

Justice Ssekaana issued an arrest warrant for the maverick lawyer over his alleged contemptous conduct. Mabirizi fled into hiding till he was eventually arrested at Kyambogo University where he had gone to use the internet services.

He was convicted and sentenced instantly and his attempts to file an appeal all hit a snug. He bowed to the sentence and has been serving it till its expiry today.

Each prisoner, on admission, shall be credited with the full amount of remission (one third of sentence) states section 84(2) of the prisons act 2006.

Applying one third of (Justice Musa) Ssekana’s unlawful and challenged 18 months imprisonment makes 12 months, falling on 26th, February, 2023 but tomorrow being a Sunday, Mabirizi could only be released today.

The lawyer has been welcomed by his colleague Isaac Ssemakadde of the Centre for Legal Aid with whom they have been jointly doing legal work.
