A security raid conducted in Nakaseke district has led to the arrest of Mr. Khalid Ssebi and Kabugo Alex Basajja who are ardent supporters of the opposition National Unity Platform party.

According to reports, the two were violently picked up at 2:00am on Tuesday night, from Kiwoko Town Council, Nakaseke District.

They were taken away in a drone to an unknown destination. The area Member of Parliament Hon. Allan Mayanja Sebunya has been leading efforts to look for them, but the efforts to trace them are still futile.

No comment was immediately available from police by the time our publication made this report.

The tendence of abductions continues to soar amidst a public outrage with Ugandans and the international community calling on government to rein into this illegality. Ms. Mariam Wangadya who heads the Uganda Human Rights Commission has declined to acknowledge these operations as ‘abductions’ but instead maintains that these are ‘lawful arrests targeting law offenders’. She warned the NUP party against politicizing the arrests.
