THE CONTINUED HARASSMENT AND ARREST OF FDC MEMBERS.

We express deep concern over the continued harassment and arrest of our members by the authorities. It is alarming to witness the unjust treatment of individuals who are merely exercising their right to freedom of speech and expressing their concerns about the injustices prevalent in our nation.

Most recently, in Sororti city, our MP Hon. Alobo Joan and other party supporters were arrested simply for speaking out against the injustices in our country. This is a clear violation of their rights and a suppression of dissenting voices.

Furthermore, we are appalled to learn that Mr Joram Bintamanya, our member and leader from Fort Portal is being hunted and targeted for arrest based on a video where he spoke about the injustices faced by Ugandans.

The NRM should focus on addressing issues raised than threatening to punish individuals for peacefully expressing their grievances and advocating for a more just society.

We call upon the NRM regime, which has silenced us for four decades, to reconsider its actions and respect the fundamental rights of Ugandan citizens. It is unacceptable to transform our country into a “no speaking” zone, where expressing legitimate concerns and dissatisfaction is met with suppression and persecution.

We urge those close to Gen. @KagutaMuseveni and his family to convey to them the message that Ugandans are not only hungry for a better future but also deeply discontented with the current state of affairs.

WE ARE HUNGRY AND ANGRY

The FDC remains committed to upholding the principles of democracy, freedom of expression, and the protection of human rights in Uganda. We will continue to speak out against injustices, advocate for positive change, and work tirelessly towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
