Controversial figure Dr. Twaha Kagabo, a Member of Parliament affiliated with the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party, has defended his decision to join the MK Movement led by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

According to Kagabo, a medical doctor by training, while he believes in the ideals of his NUP party, he also respects and believes in those of Gen. Muhoozi, who is primed to replace his father, President Museveni.

“I am a fan of Gen. Muhoozi but still inclined toward the National Unity Platform,” Kagabo said on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

This comes days after pictures of the MP shaking hands with Gen. Muhoozi appeared in the media.

”I am of sound mind. I cannot agree with you when you say NRM has done nothing in terms of health, education, and other matters. I am an objective person, and I believe in certain ideologies of NUP,” he said.

“The Constitution has never mandated a person to oppose the government. You cannot have a Constitution that provides resources such as cars, offices, and financing to the opposition for the sole purpose of opposing you. The role of the opposition is to provide alternatives,” he said.
