Ssewanyana denied clearance for specialized medication

Makindye West Member of Parliament Allan Ssewanyana is still battling for clearance to get specialized treatment abroad.

While appearing before the International Criminal division of high court in Kampala on Monday Ssewanyana said he wants parliamentary intervention to be cleared for specialized treatment and the speaker is pivotal in this.

Ssewanyana who is battling charges of terrorism and murder in this court together with Kawempe North legislator Mohammad Ssegirinya and others says he needs to access better health services and he believes he can get this under the parliamentary insurance.

Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya (who wasn’t in court) had gone to court to hear their stay of proceedings application which they filled in this court until the determination of the application in constitutional court.

However the matter didn’t proceed after the counsel for the legislators Samuel Muyizi seeking for an adjournment so as to consult his clients on a way forward since they are two applications at hand regarding the same matter including the one they filed and what was filed by the controversial lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi where he says his clients are applicants in their application of 2023 and then respondents in Mabirizi’s application of 2022 something that needs to be settled first.

Justice Alice Komuhangi has granted the adjournment giving each party a day on which to file their submissions saying she will be giving the ruling on notice.
