NRM Govt faults Bobi Wine, NUP over foreign security threats

The ruling NRM repressive regime has attributed blame to the opposition National Unity Platform party politicians and their president H.E Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine for the security threats being issued by the United Kingdom and US governments.

Speaking to media this morning in wake of the latest security alert issued by the United Kingdom on Sunday in its travel advisory to her citizenry, the foreign affairs Minister Hon. Okello Oryem says they’ve learnt that Bobi Wine and his colleagues are the masterminds of ‘fear mongering’ in the diaspora.

“We are aware that some opposition elements (Bobi Wine and NUP) and their diaspora supporters are the ones painting a bad image about Uganda, depicting it to be a terror vulnerable country,” Oryem said. “These (NUP) people spread hate and fear in the international community which is affecting Uganda’s investment terrain and the tourism sector. In my ministry, we are going to devise means to counteract all this propaganda and lure back investors and tourists to the country,”Oryem added.

He also reiterated that, “I did not lose my sleep because the UK made a terror alert. We will scout for other investors elsewhere in Spain, Portugal, France and other willing countries that can do business with us. As we speak, I have a trip to China where I’m to meet potential investors and bring them to the economy,” he added.

The UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen Felix Kulayigye in his version on the development said the Western countries are fond of labelling third world countries insecure especially when the LGBTQ question is tackled against their anticipations.

“These people sometimes base their alerts on how the country reacts to the LGBTQ question,” Kulayigye said. “But of course that does not mean that we won’t be vigilant. We appeal to all Ugandans to be very keen on their security,” he said.
