NUP councillors arrested at parliament to be charged

The Kampala Metropolitan Police delegate representative Luke Owoyesigyire says they are as yet researching what motivated Kampala and Wakiso region council speakers to organize demonstrations outside parliament.

His remark comes a day after police from CPS raced to parliament and thwarted a tranquil exhibition by these councilors who were proposing to convey a request to the office of the speaker Rt. Hon. Anita Among to whom they needed to bring to the consideration of the restored wave of kidnappings.

As indicated by the candidates, the kidnappings are spiraling with next to no endeavors taken to settle them. They stress that even the guilty parties are not arraigned or called to arrange in their singular limit in any event, when their personalities are uncovered by a portion of the safe house Survivors.

Owoyesigyire currently says they examining why these leaders chose to tie themselves in chains.

“We are examining the reason why these individuals were chained and causing ruckus outside parliament,” he said, adding, “they will be accused of unlawful get together and arraigned at Buganda road court today.”

The suspects who include Luyombya Godfrey (speaker Nakawa), Harris Akampurira (Speaker Kawempe), Luba Charles (Speaker Makindye), Najja Nassif (Speaker Wakiso) and Hamuza Kasozi (Speaker Nansana Municipal) are currently being detained at the Central Police Station in the capital, Kampala.
