The National Unity Platform party diaspora chapter chairperson Mr. Daniel Kawuuma has in a statement highlighted the exact reasons for which they and other Ugandans in the overseas have continued to shun the conferences and pressers organized by the Muhoozi Kainerugaba group.

In the recent months, the MK project diaspora conferences have faced a still rejection and boycotts from the diaspora members who opt to shun and stay away in protest of the rights violations back home in Uganda.

The US and UK conferences registered a very low turn up that was dominated by empty seats.

Kawuuma in a statement he shared on Twitter explains why the boycotts will continue. He bases his argument on the torture and exile of celebrated PEN novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija who was tortured by Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The Diaspora Rejects MK Project!

The scars on the back of Mr. @KakwenzaRukira serve as a vivid reminder of the unspeakable brutality and torture inflicted upon innocent Ugandan civilians. As a diaspora community, we cannot turn a blind eye to such egregious violations of human rights and individual liberties.

To lend support to those who perpetrate such heinous crimes is to be complicit in the degradation of our shared humanity. We refuse to be swayed or coerced into backing individuals who behave like slave owners and do not value the sanctity of human life.

The marks on Mr. Kakwenza’s body are a testament to the depths of hatred and brutality that we must reject if we are to build a better future for ourselves and future generations.

We stand firm in our conviction that anyone responsible for such atrocities has no place leading our country or influencing our community. We must take a strong stance against torture and all forms of violence, and work together to build a society that values and protects the dignity and worth of every human being.
