The head of the National Unity Platform party institutions Mr. Musiri David, 36, has been arrested by police at Wandegeya where he had gone to check on the detained women who were captured in the morning as they protested prolonged detention of political prisoners.

According to reports we have gathered, Musiri who has just returned from Tanzania where he had gone for official party duties, has been nabbed on the orders of the DPC of Wandegeya Police.

“He had come to see the suspects and then the DPC instructed his junior officers to put him in the cells,” said one of the people present at the time of Musiri’s arrest. “He asked what crime he had committed but the officers violently dragged him to the cells,” the source adds.

Meanwhile, the women protesters are still being held at Wandegeya with no visitors allowed to meet them for discussions. Police say they are awaiting guidance from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to advise on what charges to prefer on the women.
