Bukoto South Member of Parliament Hon. Twaha Kagabo has downplayed the boycott strategy by the opposition leadership in Parliament and went on to attend the Kololo address by president Museveni.

Kagabo, a controversial legislator affiliated to the NUP party reiterated that he “does not represent just NUP supporters” in parliament but rather “people of all political backgrounds.”

Kagabo went on to mock his colleagues who resolved to boycott the plenary, stating that it is them “who lose much” as the interests of their electorate cannot be known.

“I am in this Parliament to represent my electorate in Bukoto south and these constitute people of diverse political orientation. I am not just a NUP MP, I am an MP for everyone,” he maintained. “I couldn’t afford to miss such an opportunity to attend when the president (Museveni) is addressing the House,” he bragged.

Yesterday the Leader of Opposition Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba urged his lawmakers not to be party to today’s plenary where Museveni was to address lawmakers. Mpuuga cited a span of factors related to gross rights abuses and the undetermined fate of NUP political prisoners who continue to languish in prisons since the settlement of the 2021 political dust.
