Swabrah Owomukisa, the president of National Unity Platform party online journalists was according to friends last heard from at around 13:00hrs on May 22nd 2023.

Her phones have since gone silent and according to her close friends, she may have fallen prey to the renewed wave of abductions targeting vocal NUP youths.

It is reported that she was first called by an anonymous caller who claimed to be a delivery person from Cafe Javas. It is alleged that this caller directed her to collect her package from Busega, a city suburb in the outskirts of Kampala in Rubaga division.

Our source adds that once Swabrah reached Busega at around lunch time on Monday, she saw a strange vehicle, a Toyota Hiace synonymous with abductions and she darted off.

From that moment on, her whereabouts have remained mysterious with efforts to reach out to her on her number being futile as all phone calls are going unanswered. An online appeal to trace for her whereabouts has since been launched by NUP supporters.

Reached for a comment, the party leaders said they are still assessing the situation but they don’t rule out the possibility of her abduction citing last week’s same trend that saw about 4 NUP members picked by drones in Kawempe.

“We are closely monitoring everything but we don’t rule out the possibility that she was abducted. In Uganda, anything is now possible,” said a NUP leader who asked not to be mentioned on record.
