NUP SG joins mourners in Boston to honor fallen lawyer Anthony Wameli
The National Unity Platform party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya has joined the crowd of mourners at the US city of Boston in Massachusetts where a mass is being held ahead of returning the remains of the fallen lawyer Anthony Wameli to his ancestral home in Uganda.
Earlier, social media was awash with allegations that the mainstream NUP Secretariat had abandoned the diaspora in coordinating with the family of the deceased to see how to instantly meet the costs worth $50,000 and paperwork to return the remains.
“This evening at Brasco Memorial Chapel in Boston, I joined the family, the community of Ugandans and other friends at a public viewing service for our late brother and friend, comrade Wameli Anthony Yeboah. I delivered a message of condolence on behalf of the National Unity Platform which counsel Wameli served very passionately. There will be a memorial service on Sunday 3:00pm at St. Peter’s Church, 129 Lexington St. Belmont, MA. All community members are welcome and invited to attend,” Rubongoya wrote on Facebook. “Right now, all arrangements are set for the return of the body to Uganda, but we are still waiting on the requisite documentation to be completed. Burial arrangements will be communicated in conjunction with the family, as soon as the specific date of the arrival of the body is established. We continue to pray for his soul to rest in eternal peace,” his communication further reads.
