NUP supporters paraded in court martial
A section of the 32 National Unity Platform party supporters have this morning been paraded at the general court martial in Makindye for trial.
The group is accused with possession of firearms, a case they’ve grappled with since their arrest in May 2021.
Their attempts to achieve bail have been futile with the prosecution side arguing that they may compromise the investigations and also threaten witnesses.
Their counsel George Musisi argues that the prosecution is itself null since the constitutional court declared trial of civilians in court martials illegal.
“We all know that this whole trial before the Kangaroo court is illegal given that the constitutional court already declared it wrong to prosecute civilians in this jurisdiction,” he said.
