NUP to take action on MPs who shun party activities
The leadership of the opposition National Unity Platform party is contemplating whether to take disciplinary action on lawmakers who abscond party activities without sound justification.
The resolution is said to be internally mooted by top notch party leaders who argue that some MPs have made it a hobby to shun party activities.
Amongst those mentioned according to an insider are Bukoto Central MP Hon. Twaha Kagabo, Kawempe South MP Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira, Kimanya Kabonera MP Abed Bwanika among others.
Ever since the party set up its new head offices in Makerere Kavule, the area legislator Kazibwe Bashir has never laid foot on this venue, something that even triggered the party president H.E Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert to lash out at him.
Sources privy to Kazibwe Bashir say he is haunted by shame and guilt after NUP supporters accuse him with hobnobbing with the regime and derailing from the cause for which he was elected.
For all the time his counterpart Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad has been in prison, Kazibwe Bashir was neither heard condemning the arrest nor seen visiting the suspects in jail. This justified the cyber attacks pelted at him by NUP supporters and bloggers.
On the other hand, Dr. Twaha Kagabo fears reprisals from party supporters who may attack him following his controversial actions last year when he arm twisted and relented from the course of exposing the speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among in the UGX 40m bonanza.
