The Law Development Centre court has this morning granted bail to the eleven women who were arrested on Women’s day as they staged peaceful demonstrations denouncing bad governance notably the abductions and torture of Ugandans.

The court was piled to capacity with notable members from the National Unity Platform party who included the Youth Wing leader Zaake Francis Butebi, secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya, ex Makerere Guild president Shamim Nambassa and the Nansana Municipal speaker Hamuza Kasozi among others.

The LDC court granted them a cash bail of UGX 300,000 foe each and bonded their sureties UGX 1m non cash.

The suspects were ordered to return to court on their next date of trial.

It should be noted that constitutional court last Friday nullified section 5 and 10 of the Public Order Management Act under which the eleven suspects were arrested and charged.
