PM Nabbanja absconds parliament as Karamoja iron sheets row widens
The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja who is said to have taken at least 2000 iron sheet pieces was today supposed to address parliament according to the order paper signed off by the office of the clerk.
However, reports coming through indicate that Nabbanja has been a no show despite requesting for 30 minutes to address the house on the matter. The Prime Minister has not showed any signs of showing up before the house despite earlier requesting the business committee to incorporate her on the order paper and grant her 30 minutes. But by 17:00hrs, she had not showed any signs of attending plenary to account for her scandal hit office.
Meanwhile State Minister Amos Lugoloobi yesterday bowed to pressure and plucked off the iron sheets on his farm following a New Vision story that exposed him to have used government property for his own use. The minister declared the iron sheets ‘evil’ upon learning that they were illegally appropriated.
Relatedly, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija triggered laughter amongst MPs at the parliament committee on presidential affairs when she retorted that the iron sheets found themselves in his compound.
“I did not ask for any iron sheets,”Kasaija took a turn. “I was only told a donation is coming from the OPM. I could not reject them. They are in my compound, I can take you to see them if you wish,” he added.
