Police arrest women protesting brutality, abductions

Police in Wandegeya have this morning arrested a team of women who were on the streets holding placards and decrying the rampant abductions and prolonged detention of their husbands. The women said they could not celebrate the international women’s day yet their husbands are languishing in custody.

About 11 women, among whom is Liz Nyanzi, daughter to Fred Nyanzi and niece to NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi, held a protest on March 8th, 2033.

The women were protesting against police brutality, torture, illegal arrests and dentition of political prisoners

These were arrested and were being detained at Wandegeya Police station by time of publication.
Last week four councillors belonging to the National Unity Platform were also arrested in a similar protest.
