Uganda Police have detained their commander ACP Ashraf Chemonges, for spreading arrest information about the Speaker Anita Among, a prime suspect in the Karamoja iron sheets scandal.

Chemonges, who is the Commander of the Alert Squad in the Uganda Police was caught on video claiming that the Special Forces Command (SFC) was planning to arrest Among by close of this week

.Among has since returned the 300 pieces of iron sheets to the office of the Prime Minister. Among claims the iron sheets she got were distributed to public schools in rural Bukedea District. She also denied using the iron sheets at her private school in Bukedea though authorities from the state house Anti-Corruption unit found the stolen items at her school.

Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson has declined to comment on the arrest of ACP Chemonges.

Some reports suggest that Chemonges reached out to the speaker Among’s team and alerted her about the impending arrest that has left her restless in recent days.

The speaker’s lifestyle has since changed as she now acts friendly towards the opposition lawmakers as witnessed yesterday when she personally drove to CPS and bailed out the eleven opposition MPs. Among expects them to stand surety for her when it’s her turn to be in the dock of the anti-corruption court in Kololo.

The speaker has also delegated all her responsibilities to her junior, Thomas Tayebwa who now conducts House business.
