Special mass held to remember fallen Kampala Archbishop Lwanga

A special mass is being held at Rubaga Cathedral to honor the legacy of fallen Kampala Archbishop Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga who today marks his second anniversary since he left the eyes of believers.

Dr. Lwanga, an outspoken cleric who always condemned the regime shortcomings and repression mysteriously died in the Easter season of 2021. He died on April 3, just a day after leading the way of the cross in Kampala.

He had succeeded Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala as Kampala Archbishop in 2006 and served till his death in 2021.

The special mass to honor him is being presided by his successor, Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere.

At the time of his demise, he had called on the government to desist from the gross rights abuses that had taken the centre stage during and after the 2021 polls.

Dr. Lwanga’s body was found at his residence in Rubaga. His remains were buried inside the Cathedral.
