The Uganda Human Rights Commission chairperson Ms. Mariam Wangadya yesterday while addressing media revealed that some of her committee members attend meetings while armed, something that has triggered threats to her own life.

Wangadya notes that there are rising levels of rights violations by armed security operatives who are unleashing terror on Ugandans of all class, from civilians to the Members of Parliament.

A concerned Wangadya called out on police to reform and abandon their repressive approach while handling Ugandans. She also said she had issued summons to the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola to present himself and account for the injustices and brutality conducted by his men in uniform.

“I am fearing for my life. My own Commission cannot chair internal meetings. Some of my own colleagues come with pistols in these meetings. I am threatened. My life is in danger,” Wangadya said.

Bobi Speaks out

The Chairperson, Uganda Human Rights Commission now says she fears to convene meetings of the Commission because her juniors attend them with guns! Perhaps this explains the ridiculous statements she has been making of recent about victims of human rights violations. Perhaps it also confirms the reports we got that while announcing the 2021 presidential results, Byabakama was literally on gun point, with ‘armed commandos’ right behind him!

Like I said before, every day that Gen. Museveni spends in power, the crisis continues to grow. The impunity spreads further, and the criminality grows. We are on our own – ALL OF US. A time must come when we rise up collectively and put an end to this madness.
