UPDATE: UHRC hears Besigye 2016 case today
Former Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye is appearing before UHRC regarding a case filed in 2016, accusing the police, led by the late former AIGP Felix Kaweesi, of illegal arrest and violation of their freedom of expression and assembly, among other charges.
Alliance for National Transformation party leader, Rtd. Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Ingrid Turinawe are among his witnesses in the commission chaired by Chairperson Mariam Wangadya of the Uganda Human Rights Commission.
The case is being heard 7 years since it was filed and surprisingly one of the accused (Andrew Felix Kaweesi) is already deceased. The FDC too has since been disintegrated with most leaders already resigned from active politics.
