VIDEO: NUP speaks out on missing online journalist
The opposition National Unity Platform party leadership has condemned the abduction of Ms. Swabrah Kiganda Owomukisa, a president of the party online media crew whose whereabouts remain a mystery for 72hours now.
Speaking to media this morning, the NUP Deputy Spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro lashed out at security agencies for continously leading an abduction campaign targeting the party’s supporters.
He says despite their efforts to reach out to all police stations, no official statement explaining the motive of arrest or case preferred on the young lady have been made.
Waiswa adds that police have denied knowledge of her abduction, which is why he challenges them to use their CCTV records to make trace of her disappearance.
Testimonies from Swabrah’s friends indicate that she was being used as a decoy to contact her colleagues and lure them into the trap of her captors.
“They have been using her phone to call her friends and abduct them as well. We are aware of Swabrah’s abductors but they will be held liable for whatever shall happen to her life,” Waiswa said.
Approached for a comment, the police publicist Fred Enanga said he was unaware of having in custody anyone with that name neither was he aware of the charges preferred on her.
