“You don’t learn,” NUP SG tells pro-NRM artistes

In a missive he authored this morning, the opposition National Unity Platform party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya has slammed artistes and pro-NRM government stooges who have chose to be deaf in times that require sobriety.

The statement is seemingly a rebuttal to the ongoing online rants from the Eddy Kenzo led Federation artistes who felt offended by Bobi Wine’s remarks during the burial of fallen comedian-cum politician Hon. Kato Lubwama.

Bobi had rallied musicians to stop reducing themselves to beggars who cannot thrive on their own talent and works. He rallied them to back the copyright law that is likely to be lucrative for their industry as it will enable them to reap from their fruits. The word ‘beggars’ has however not gone well with Federation artistes who have since opted to use their social spaces to fire back at Bobi Wine.

But Rubongoya in a brief statement makes his own cyphered judgment;

It’s crazy how they never learn! Tebayiga. One of them is crying that they’re after his life after using him to do all their games. The ‘advisor’ was embarrassed when she tried to ask for audience, because her value ended when campaigns ended. Others are in hiding, living under the weight of debts which the regime promised to clear and didn’t. Others have been paid with worse.

Sadly, there are still others willing to be used again and again! Someone is telling them that when empowered with good laws and policies, they won’t need to kneel before anyone anymore. The arts industry can become a multi-million dollar venture like it is in Nigeria, Ghana and other places. Of course, a few of them feel threatened by this message, because once many eyes are opened, that will stand in the way of their deal. Anyway, we have been here long enough to know how it will end. They never learn! Tebayiga.
